Chris Sheppard, Solicitor

 

Chris Sheppard is a specialist in private client work, which includes Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Inheritance Tax planning issues. He also undertakes contentious probate matters where wills or estates are in dispute after a person’s death. He joined Gibson & Co. in 2016 having previously been Head of the Wills and Probate Department of Stockdale & Reid Limited in North Shields. As an approved member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP), Chris is a fully qualified Trusts & Estate Practitioner (TEP).

Chris has a particular interest in elderly client matters, his experience includes advising on care fees and the family home, asset preservation, Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection work and acting as a Deputy.

He understands that dealing with the administration of an estate and obtaining a Grant of Probate or a Grant of Letters of Administration can be a daunting and complex task for many people, and will assist to ensure all matters are dealt with efficiently and sympathetically.

Chris is also a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors’ Family Law Association) which takes a constructive, non-confrontational approach to resolving family disputes. Chris can assist with matters relating to divorce, relationship and family breakdown, Civil Partnership dissolution, child residence and contact disputes as well pre-marital agreements.

Chris graduated from Newcastle University with a 2:1 LLB (Hons) before completing the Legal Practice Course with Distinction. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1998.

Away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, touring France in his caravan, current affairs, DIY and walking his 2 dogs.
