David Bawn, Partner

David has an LLB honours degree from the University of Leicester and attended the College of Law in York. He trained in Newcastle and qualified in 2003. He joined Gibson & Co. in 2008 after a period working for another local law firm.

David is a specialist in Private Client work, which includes Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Capital Tax Planning. He has been approved as a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is a fully qualified Trusts & Estate Practitioner (TEP).

He also deals with Commercial Property and Agricultural Law issues for clients.

Contentious probates, contested Wills and claims against estates are also an important area of David’s practice.

David is recommended by Legal 500 who describe him as "standout" and commented in 2015 on him and his team "regularly deal[ing] with the personal affairs including trusts and property issues, of some of the region's largest rural landowners.

He is recommended in the latest Legal 500; “The ‘extremely knowledgeable’ David Bawn is recommended for his ‘outstanding grasp of the law and wealth of experience’”.

David is also recommended as a key individual in Chambers and Partners; "observers commend "fantastic" David Bawn for his approachability".

David was brought up in Northumberland and now lives near Morpeth with his wife Nicola and young family. He is a great lover of the countryside and has a keen interest in rural matters.

Outside of work David has a keen interest in politics and serves as a local councillor in Northumberland.
