Limited liability companies have “directors” not partners. However, it is common for senior members of law firms to refer to themselves as “partners”, and for that reason this wording has been retained for our website, correspondence, and other marketing material. The word “partner” therefore refers to a shareholder or director of the firm, and should not be taken to indicate that the directors of Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd are carrying on business in partnership for the purposes of the Partnership Act 1890. Any business conducted with the firm is with Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd only and not any one person individually.
Before 1 October 2011, Gibson & Co. was a partnership constituted under the laws of England and Wales. Some documents on this website were produced before 1 October 2011. Nothing in these documents is to be taken to indicate that Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd is a partnership.
On 1 October 2011, the Gibson & Co. partnership transferred all of its business to Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd. The Gibson & Co. partnership remains responsible for all advice and services to clients before 1 October 2011. Responsibility for advice and services provided on or after 1 October 2011 in connection with existing and new matters has become that of Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd.
From 1 October 2011, Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd accepts and assumes any rights and obligations of the Gibson & Co. partnership under all continuing agreements between clients and the partnership. Accordingly on 1 October 2011, files and confidential information concerning client matters were transferred to Gibson & Co. Solicitors Ltd. Any client which continues to deal with Gibson & Co.
